John Hooson was out on 4th March taking a few railway pictures on the Great Eastern Main Line between Witham and Chelmsford, and what should pass by was class 66 locomotive 66761 "Wensleydale Railway Association 1990-2015"
It was hauling a container train from Felixstowe to Hams Hall.
Has anyone else seen the loco in service? Would be interesting to see where it gets to (04/03/2016)

An English Electric Stephenson class 0-6-0 Shunter arrived at Aysgarth today (16th March)
It came from Wolsingham on the Weardale Railway and it is believed that originally it used to work in the BASF (formerly ICI) plant on Teeside (16/03/2016)Click here to see higher resolution photo

Over the last three years since the embankment slips at the Akebar embankment the Vegetation Team have on and off done a lot of clearance work here. This is what it looked like back in February 2013 before the Vegetation Team started clearance work (27/02/2013)

The Vegetation Team have worked hard to clear the vegetation right back to the fence line at Newton le Willows. It was previously a mass of brambles, bushes and trees. This is needed in order to carry out repairs of the fencing. This area looks as though at one time it was used as an allotment - probably by the local railway workers (30/03/2016)

The platform edging slabs at Scruton were placed into position on the new sloping platform edge
Here we can see a general view of the operation which shows the method where we lifted 9 very heavy (c 100 kgs) coping slabs which make up the edge of the platform.
David Harrison devised a system of 2 'portable' scaffolding towers on each of which was fitted a lifting winch, and between the towers ran a 'ladder' railway on which ran a trolley under control of a 3rd winch. (30/03/2016)Click here to see higher resolution photo
