The timber trestles show the massive scale of the new timber platform at Scruton Station. We aim to have this complete in August when the station can begin to receive service trains. The timber is construction graded Larch with steel bolt fixings. The trestles sit on recycled concrete sleepers fixed with 20mm steel rods. The deck planking will commence shortly. (19/07/2016)

A view from the far end. In the right side of the photo, the scaffolding structure allows concrete sleepers which form the foundation to the new platform to be moved. This is necessary as concrete sleepers are very heavy - about 5cwt each (20/07/2016)

The Volker tamper is returning from tamping new track at Romanby and passing the trestles which will support the new platform at Scruton. The new platform is being built to the North Eastern Timber platform design of 1909 - with adaptations to meet current rail track standards. A snug fit but no problem with clearances. (21/07/2016)
