At the National Heritage Railway Awards in London on 7th December 2016, the railway achieved the award of highly commended for the new Scruton Crossing Gates.
The photo shows the presentation - Tug Lee and Peter Chapman who are receiving the Stagecoach Volunteers Award for the construction of the crossing gates at Scruton. The gates were built and installed by volunteers of the Direct Works Team.

Using some old sleepers the decking of Argill UWC was repaired until a full decking replacement can be programmed in. (12/12/2016)

Leyburns last working party of the year was to re-gauge the approach to Argill UWC between Harmby and the private Spennithorne Station using the only 3 replacement sleepers available. Minor vegetation was also cleared and a drain cleaned out. (12/12/2016)

Using a minimum of 3 second hand sleepers the approach to Argill UWC was repaired and the Gauge 1435mm width restored. Some good sleepers were moved across and re-drilled and others plugged. (12/12/2016)

The Infrastructure team visited Argill Farm UWC, dropped off 3x replacement sleepers for the Leyburn gang and verified the STATIC gauge as 1465mm. We fitted a tie- bar (see attached photos) and pulled the gauge into 1448mm, but sleeper condition is very poor and the track/deck at this UWC needs prioritising for renewal (26/11/2016)
