During March a fair amount of work has been carried out by the railway, much of it in preparation of service trains starting to run in (hopefully) May.
This month we have:-

2. A view of the rear of the Restored Leeming Bar Station House
3. The beautiful new William Morris wallpaper in the restored Station Masters Parlour in Leeming Bar Station House.
4. Work is progressing on a new toilet block at Leeming Bar.
5. Pacer Units at Leeming Bar.
6. Our new disinfectant spray unit to allow us to disinfect coaches for when we start running.
7. Other Covid 19 preparations for starting to run trains.
8. Our new EPOS (Electronic Point of Sale) system which is being installed on the railway.
9. Our damaged class 121 Bubble Car under repair at Nemesis Rail.
10. We have stripped out for restoration and reuse the seating from several Pacer units that are going to be scrapped by Northern Rail.

A cache of concrete sleepers beside the old track bed near to Bolton Castle. There are more in the area.
These were placed here in 1997 by early WRA volunteers. At this time as the WRA did not have access to the Wensleydale railway line, the intention was to lay some track near to Bolton Castle and run trains on it. - I wonder if the sleepers are still in usable condition and could be used elsewhere on the line?
NB. There are photos on this website under 'Early WRA Volunteering' showing the sleepers being placed there. (02/03/2021)Click here to see higher resolution photo

Our volunteers were at Heaton Traincare Depot to strip and retrieve the original bus style seating for our 144 and 143 pacer units. A long day later and four power cars worth of seats were taken away to an offsite storage facility where they can be repainted and recovered prior to use.
A big thank you to Angel Trains and Northern Rail at Heaton for allowing us on site before the last 142 units go for scrap.
Also a big thanks to the three volunteers who gave up their Sunday to get the task done. (28/03/2021)Click here to see higher resolution photo

During March the vegetation team have been working back from Bedale station, clearing out ivy laden trees and undergrowth. A wide working area and a steep embankment on one side made it hard work. (17/02/2021)
