7. Leyburn's 1940s event…
8. The coaches which we have recently bought off Harry Needle in order to keep them on the railway. We have had them on loan for several years.

In just under 3 weeks an amazing team of volunteers have created a “pop-up” cafe in the signal box at Scruton station. We are looking for more volunteers who would be interested in supporting us staff the cafe.

In Rail Link 205 Andy Crawford mentioned that 2 July 2021 was the 10th anniversary of the opening of the Bedale station building to the public. On 2 July 2011 Sue Scurlock, Brian Black and Marilyn Milner await the first customers. The stone floor in the Waiting Room had been laid only days before and a permanent counter had not yet been built. (02/07/2011)

In Rail Link 205 Andy Crawford mentioned that 2 July 2021 was the 10th anniversary of the opening of the Bedale station building to the public. A view of the platform on 2 July 2011. Passengers still accessed the platform via the arch but could go into the Waiting Room to buy tickets and refreshments. The signal box was under restoration by DWT at the time. (02/07/2011)

The siding where the old buffet and shop coaches used to be. The section of track is going to be lowered prior to the new buffet/kitchen car being located here. This is to improve access and to avoid a step up to the coach, as was needed previously. (20/07/2021)

Bedale Station: heavy-weight steps designed to accommodate the wide Pacer doorways, but very difficult to manoeuvre along the ash surface of the platform. Needed at least two people. So an improved lighter weight step design was put into motion. (31/07/2021)

Network Rail Biodiversity Visit
Wensleydale Railway were delighted to welcome a group of 11 guests from Network Rail for a day. They joined us for a trip up and down the line and experienced the heritage offer at both Leeming Bar and Scruton. The group walked the line Westwards from Bedale to witness first hand the impact of biodiversity, with specific focus on Ash dieback and line vegetation control. (--/07/2021)
