Station House Official Opening
2nd May 2022
On the 2nd May 2022, the restored Station House at Leeming Bar, which was funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, was officially opened. There were various invited guests including representatives of the Heritage Lottery Fund, local councillors and several people whose families had been involved with the Wensleydale Railway when it was a proper operational railway serving the community

Here are Peter and Philip Harkness of Harkness Roses. They were delighted to be invited to the official opening, as it was Leeming Bar station that allowed their nursery business (started in 1879) to really flourish. With the station next to the nursery, they could quickly despatch cut flowers, plants etc. all over the country. The Harkness Roses nursery these days is down south as the moved in the mid 20th century to get a better climate to grow roses. (02/05/2022)Click here to see higher resolution photo
