During January lots of work has been going on on the railway by our Engineering Maintenance, Vegetation and Infrastructure teams. This month we have:
1. The Vegetation team dismantling the Polar Express ‘North Pole’.
2. The moving of a shed at Leeming Bar to make way for the new catering facility.
3. Clearing of the bank opposite Bedale station platform.
4. The infrastructure team digging ditches and improving drainage because of a very wet January.
5. Various locos around Leeming Bar yard.
6. Replacing the fencing at Aiskew level crossing.
7. Class 14 loco D9513 undergoing maintenance.
8. The restoration of the railway crane continues.
9. The restoration of a Mk.2 coach continues.
10. The restoration of the Wickham trolley continues.
11. Work by the vegetation team.

It's been a wet and muddy job underfoot but at end of day on 3rd January the vegetation team have finished the job they set out to do and the North Pole scenery is all safely tucked up and dry within the containers on site. The team themselves can go home and dry out. (03/01/2024)

With most of the planned works between Bridges 28 and 29 west of Leyburn being cancelled due to the track being flooded the opportunity was taken to dig a cess ditch west of B29 to take the water away from the track.
