December 2025 - General
Photographs
December has been a busy month. Whilst the main operational focus has been running the POLAR EXPRESS™ Train Ride, lots of other work has been carried out as well. On this page:-
1. The Mince Pie Special trains.
2. Loco 60087 which was rescued from the main line is still at Leeming Bar.
3. The Fencing Team has been busy.
4. The Direct Works team has been busy at Leeming Car and Bedale. They have also helped the Veg team with vegetation removal.
5. A pump has been fitted in the signal box pit at Scruton due to flooding.
6. Work is continuing on the restoration of the 0-6-0 tank loco.
7. Restoration of the Mk2 coach W14073 continues.
8. The level crossing gates at Scruton have been replaced.
9. Restoration of the Sentinel diesel shunter is in progress.
10. The Vegetation Team have been busy.

A bough had fallen off the large tree in the back of the picture. It broke the gate and further damaged the gate post in its original position.

The Direct Works Team have refitted the safety rails to the Polar Express Hot Chocolate Kitchen entrance as it was getting unsafe. They were originally only screwed into the tarmac, now screwed into a concrete foundation (02/12/2025)

Restoration of a lever frame at Scruton - Due to the signal box pit continually flooding, resulting in the lever frame support beams being partially underwater a sump was dug and an automatic pump has been installed. (09/12/2025)

The type of pump installed is able to pump virtually all the water down to the base of the pump. (09/12/2025)
