Photographs
March has been a busy month for the various maintenance, vegetation and infrastructure teams. On this page:-
1. Tarmacing of the central section of Bedale Station platform.
2. Loco 60087 has now left Leeming Bar after failing on the main line last October.
3. Track and signalling equipment have been arriving at Leeming Bar from the former Eggborough Power Station.
4. Improvement works and creation of a kitchen at the Redmire shelter.
5. An ex LMS guards van has arrived on our line.
6. Various loco under maintenance in our Maintenance Shed.
7. The Sentinel Diesel loco is being painted following repairs to its bodywork.
8. The Wickham Trolley is being prepared for display at Scruton.
9. The Direct Works Team building a wooden shed at Finghall station.
10. The Direct Works Team have been tidying up and getting rid of a lot of rubbish from Bedale Dock.
11. The Vegetation Team busy at Constable Burton.
12. The Infrastructure Team has been busy doing drainage work and clearing vegetation at Wensley.

60087 left our railway on 24th March and headed home by road for repairs. In late October last year, we assisted our friends at GB Railfreight and collected 60087 'Ingleborough' from Castle Hills Junction, after it had suffered a collapsed wheel bearing on the East Coast Mainline. (24/03/2026)

It has been decided that the Wickham trolley won't be actually used on our line, but will instead be a museum piece located in an original Wickham trolley shed at Scruton. Here the wooden seating has been changed to look original. The wood underneath the rear window is now an original (31/03/2026)

Wensley Track. Looking east towards Leyburn. The curve from the straight in the distance round to the level crossing had become uneven. With the aid of the laser level and stoneblowing the dips in the low, north rail have been taken out. Once this is completed the high, south rail to the right will be similarly treated. (23/02/2026)

Wensley Drainage. With concerns that water from the high side was finding its way through the embankment (not good) it was decided to dig out the ditch at the foot of the embankment to allow water to run through the culvert at the east end of the site.

Wensley Vegetation. Shrubs and small trees had grown up in this fertile environment. These had been cut back previously but the roots remained and were beginning to sprout again. The excavator dug out these roots which were then burnt. (24/03/2026)
