Here is a photo of the Atlas Crane Lowmac that was acquired from the KWVR earlier in the Year. It was built in 1957 at Swindon, number B904133.
It was used on the 28th June for the first time for the PW Team to lift several large dumpy bags of ballast that had been recovered alongside the line at Bedale station. These were then transported to Stoop House Bridge on the train where they were offloaded again by the Atlas Crane. (29/06/2026)Click here to see higher resolution photo

The veg team working alongside the P-Way team at Wensley. Then veg team had a couple of particularly large trees to remove. Tall trees sway in high winds causing root instability which distubs embankment formations. If they're in the wrong place they have to go. (01/06/2026)

This is what giant hogweed looks like; fortunately for us it's on neighbouring land near Bedale Beck bridge. (Heracleum mantegazzianum). When touched, it transfers toxic sap to your skin containing furocoumarins, which strip skin of its ability to protect itself from UV rays. When exposed to sunlight, this causes severe, painful burns, large blisters, and long-lasting purple scars. it's nasty stuff. (24/06/2026)
