The end of the Wensleydale Railway; the buffer stop at Redmire. It's a long time since our railway extended beyond here; not since the middle of the last century. And if you pass this buffer there's only some brambles and a fence to stop you dropping in to Apedale beck. (29/07/2026)

If you wonder what you're looking at, it's the drop to the Apedale beck beyond the buffers where a bridge once carried the line further west. Look closely (top middle) and you might make out the remains of the bridge abutments still in situ. I'd have liked to have brought you a better picture but it wasn't possible to get any closer and the area is very overgrown. You'll have to use your imagination. (29/07/2026)

Also during July the veg team were called to an urgent job on the stretch from Bedale bypass bridge towards the Wiske bridge further west (the bridge with the temp 5mph limit). Tall vegetation required removal so that lineside access could be available to bridge engineers. (15/07/2026)
