Restoration of a Railway Crane

In late 2022 a Hubbard & Taylor 15 Tonne Civil Engineers Crane arrived at Leeming Bar after being bought by one of our volunteers off the Keithley and Worth Valley Railway. This photo gallery will document its restoration. When restored and properly certified for lifting, it will be an invaluable addition to the railway for purposes such as track laying etc. as it will allow complete track panels to be assembled in a yard, transported to site and then placed in position, by the crane.
Restoration of the crane continued in August 2023 with painting and re-decking of the crane's match truck and some work on the crane's main body

Railway Crane Restoration - The crane's jib yoke has now been put on the crane's match truck. The yoke supports the crane's jib and also keeps it in a secure position when the crane is being towed in a train. (24/08/2023)
