Constable Burton Signal Box
Photographs
The signal box which was originally located at Hertford East Station had to be removed due to reconstruction works at the station. As it was a grade 2 listed building, this was not straightforward, but permission was eventually given to remove it, and for it to be rebuilt on the Wensleydale line. Network Rail then took it down in 2021 and transported it to the Wensleydale Railway.
Work began to rebuild it at Constable Burton in late 2022 with the digging out of the foundations. By Autumn 2025, the rebuilding of the structure was essentially complete and the next stage will be the installation of its original signal locking frame.
