Leyburn Signal Box
A signal box will shortly be installed at Leyburn to control the new passing loop. The signal box to be installed here came originally from Eskmeals on the Cumbria Coast Railway It has been at Scruton for the last few years being restored by the Direct Works Team. Originally destined for Constable Burton, it is now being installed at Leyburn.
Here are photos to show where it came from and the progress of construction at Leyburn.

The DWT took a visit to Glaxo, Smith Klein Beacham at Ulverstone to look at the ex VGRS SB to see if it was suitable for Constable Burton. The SB had been out on the Cumbrian coast railway at Eskmeals and controlled the branch into the MOD depot. It was lifted by Phil Jone's rail crane into the depot where later on, Jonathen Wilkinson had it moved to his back garden as a 'summer house' for 17 years. Today the SB is on the Wensleydale railway and will be installed at Leyburn. It weighs approx 1100 kgs. (01/10/2011)
